Cities and leagues in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Northeast China’s Liaoning province reached a cooperation agreement to build the “New Northeast China Land-Sea Channel” during a video conference on Feb 4.

The signatories include Inner Mongolia’s Xiliin Gol League, Chifeng city and Tongliao city, as well as Jinzhou, Fuxin and Chaoyang cities in Liaoning province.

They signed the "Agreement on Cooperation Alliance of Local Governments along the ‘New Northeast Land-Sea Channel’" and the “Cooperation Agreement between Jinzhou Port Co and the Alliance of Local Governments along the ‘New Northeast Land-Sea Channel.’”

The former document established consensus on consultation, policy and planning, the business environment, foreign trade, cultural exchanges, infrastructure interconnection, port and hinterland interaction and think tank cooperation.

The latter agreement reached a consensus among the six members on reducing logistics costs at Jinzhou Port, promoting resource integration at the port and improving its service efficiency.

Construction of the New Northeast China Land-Sea Channel will play an essential role in boosting the regional economy's high-quality development. It will help cities along the channel expand opening-up to achieve mutual benefits, said Wang Dejia, Party secretary of Jinzhou city.
