Inner Mongolia's anti-pollution campaign proves fruitful
In 2020, the rate of days with “good” or “excellent” air quality in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region reached 90.8 percent.
The achievement highlights the autonomous region's progress in fighting against water, air and land pollution.
Statistics show that the various environmental binding indicators in Inner Mongolia met or exceeded the national annual assessment requirements.
Last year, Inner Mongolia issued the "Implementation Measures for the Supervision of Ecological Environment Protection" and completed the environmental inspection of its six leagues and cities.
Meanwhile, Inner Mongolia implemented the management of the discharge permit system for fixed pollution sources and completed the issuance and registration of pollutant permits for 28,705 pollutant discharge units in 106 industries.
An environmental damage compensation system went into effect in 2020, with 17 ecological damage compensation cases being handled. Meanwhile, five institutions obtained the qualifications for judicial appraisal of environmental damage.
Additionally, Inner Mongolia compiled the "Biodiversity Conservation Priority Regional Planning" document, completed the special survey of biodiversity in three leagues and cities, and finished the environmental quality assessment of the Yellow River Basin and Ulagai Wetland Ecosystem.
In 2020, three places in Inner Mongolia were honored as "National Ecological Civilization Construction Model Cities and Counties." Also, two sites were selected as practice innovation bases in line with the philosophy that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.”
