Water brings vitality to Wuhai city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Wuhai city is located in the western part of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, lying on the edge of the Kubuqi, Maowusu and Ulan Buh deserts.

Although the Yellow River flows through this place, intense evaporation and scarce precipitation make the summer in Wuhai extremely hot.

Since the key Yellow River Haibowan Water Control Project succeeded in reserving water, a 118-square-kilometer water body known as “Wuhai Lake” is taking shape.

Wuhai Lake lies between the city and deserts, creating a splendid landscape combining desert, water and urban sprawl.

Meanwhile, the city’s green coverage rate has reached 41.9 percent. The forest coverage rate has reached 17.5 percent, and the green park area has reached 19.7 square meters per capita, all contributing to the city’s honorable title of “national green model city.”
