Inner Mongolia Red Cross Society makes achievements during 13th Five-Year Plan

The information office of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region's government held a press conference on June 26 to review the achievements made by the Inner Mongolia Red Cross Society during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).

In the past five years, the Inner Mongolia Red Cross Society has improved its long-term financing mechanism, formulated a Red Cross reform plan and established the country's first provincial-level Red Cross Supervisory Board and Red Cross Humane Culture Communication and Research Center.

It distributed donations worth 166 million yuan ($24.91 million) to 1.94 million people in need and established a series of humanitarian aid brands, with more than 3 million instances of assistance being offered.

From 2016 to 2020, the total funding of the whole system reached 814 million yuan.

Meanwhile, the Inner Mongolia Red Cross Society carried out emergency rescue training and provided training to 1,229 teachers and 181,500 ambulance personnel.

It set up 551 emergency care points in the whole region and more than 340 automated external defibrillators in crowded public places.

It also completed the construction of the collection and separation rooms for hematopoietic stem cells and designated treatment hospitals for congenital heart disease.

The Red Cross collected 47,939 blood samples of hematopoietic stem cells, with 106 donations being made. It also registered 32,349 corpse donations and human organ donations, with 142 cases of body donation, 79 cases of corneal donation and 86 cases of human organ donation.

To fight against the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it donated virus prevention and control materials worth 10 million yuan to countries and regions in need.
