Continuing development cooperation between North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region and the national capital Beijing has reportedly delivered significant and lasting results, which is said to have led to mutually beneficial outcomes in a multitude of areas.

The two initiated a cooperation mechanism in 1996, involving the fields of industrial development, infrastructure construction, employment, talent exchanges and consumption assistance.

Since 2016, Beijing has invested nearly 7 billion yuan ($1.05 billion) in collaboration development funds in Inner Mongolia and implemented more than 3,200 projects.

It has also guided 190 Beijing enterprises to invest in the region, to the tune of 15 billion yuan.

Due to the joint efforts, the partners have built a total of 49 industrial parks in Inner Mongolia to date.

Meanwhile, 160,000 farmers and herdsmen in Inner Mongolia have found jobs through Beijing and Inner Mongolia's cooperation. Of these, 120,000 were from poverty-stricken areas.

Additionally, Inner Mongolia has sold agricultural and livestock products worth 16 billion yuan to Beijing, as part of an aid program to help lift local residents out of poverty.

In terms of talent exchanges, Inner Mongolia and Beijing have sent 700 cadres and around 100,000 technical personnel in exchanges since 2016, which is said to have significantly improved the quality of medical treatment and education in Inner Mongolia.
