Urad Nature Reserve experiences increase in wild animals
A total of 38 Mongolian wild asses were recently found in three family groups in the Urad Nature Reserve - located in the area administered by Bayannuur city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Of these, seven of the wild asses are pregnant, according to a survey recently undertaken by the nature reserve.
The survey mainly looked into their numbers, distribution and habitat status. The monitoring data provides an important basis for the scientific management of the Mongolian wild ass population.
The Mongolian wild ass is a rare and endangered wild animal under national key protection.
In recent years, the Urad Nature Reserve has established a four-level inspection system to protect the species.
It has continuously carried out wild animal epidemic disease monitoring all year round, opened special channels for wild animal migrations and carried out wild animal supplementary feeding and operated field ambulances.
Today, the number of wild animals in the reserve continues to increase. The nearly extinct ibex and argali, as well as the great bustard, turtle dove, golden eagle and other national key protected animals that had disappeared for many years, have returned again.
