Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Ulaanqab road network takes shape
A highway network connecting the cities of Hohhot, Baotou, Ordos and Ulaanqab in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is gradually taking shape and is expected to shorten travel time among the cities to just 2 hours.
By the end of 2021, the total mileage of highways in the Hohhot- Baotou-Ordos- Ulaanqab region had reached 59,000 kilometers.
Highways passing through the region involve the Beijing-Tibet Highway, the Beijing-Xinjiang Highway, the Baotou-Maoming Highway, the Rongcheng-Wuhai Highway, the Hohhot-Juungar Banner Highway and the Ereenhot-Guangzhou Highway.
This year, Inner Mongolia's department of transportation and the aforementioned four cities will accelerate the construction of the S43 Hohhot airport highway, the S29 highway connecting Hohhot to Liangcheng, the National Road 110 and the Provincial Road 311 to improve the regional transportation network.
The S43 Hohhot airport highway is currently under construction, and the S29 highway has started construction as well. It will shorten travel time from Hohhot to Liangcheng county from 2 hours to 1 hour.
