Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, made it onto a national list of the top 10 cities selected for their high-quality development, in a result announced at the second China Urban High Quality Development and International Cooperation Conference held in Beijing on Aug 30.
The city has taken the path towards green development and made concerted efforts in developing six major eco-friendly industries – the dairy sector, biomedicines, solar power, the digital economy, modern logistics and cultural tourism.
This year, 1,042 major projects in them will be implemented with an annual investment of 123.2 billion yuan ($17.85 billion).
Moreover, Hohhot is making great strides in stepping up the development of its dairy industry. The sector is widely viewed as being one of the most competitive operations there, with a full industry supply chain planned and the city is already widely recognized as China's dairy capital.
Hohhot is home to dairy giants Yili and Mengniu and the two are among the top 10 global dairy enterprises, with an output value of over 200 billion yuan each.
In 2021, Hohhot revised and refined its policies for the development of the sector, to pave the way for the establishment of more dairy pastures.
The Yili Global Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park – part of the new and cutting-edge Yili Future Intelligence and Health Valley – officially started operation on July 12 in Hohhot.
The Yili Future Intelligence and Health Valley facility is being developed as an intelligent and modern eco-friendly complex that integrates industry and city – boasting comprehensive functionality and occupying a space suitable for business, living, learning and tourism.
