Inner Mongolia sees rapid economic, social development

The information office of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Government held a press conference on Sept 13 to introduce the region's economic and social development achievements since 2012.

From 2012 to 2021, the comprehensive economic strength of Inner Mongolia improved significantly.

Statistics from the Inner Mongolia Bureau of Statistics show that the region's GDP jumped from 1,047 billion yuan ($157.09 billion) in 2012 to 2,051.4 billion yuan in 2021.

Meanwhile, per capita GDP increased from 42,441 yuan in 2012 to 85,422 yuan in 2021, ranking 10th in the country.

Additionally, the economic structure of Inner Mongolia has continuously improved.

In 2021, the added value of the region's primary industry reached 222.52 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry reached 937.42 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry reached 891.48 billion yuan, increases of 50 percent, 110 percent and 100 percent over 2012, respectively.
