Inner Mongolia embraces opportunities for revitalizing Northeast China
A briefing was held in Changchun, Jilin Province, to highlight the strategy of revitalizing Northeast China to promote Chinese modernization, on Oct 14.
Wang Zheming, deputy director of the Heshou Wind Farm at CGN New Energy's Inner Mongolia branch, shared insights with domestic and international guests about China's largest onshore wind power base — CGN's 3-million-kilowatt project in Hinggan League, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
"Initially, local herders were unfamiliar with wind power," Wang explained. "But they began to see tangible benefits through road construction, network access, and job creation. With the wind turbines standing tall, our relationship with the herders has greatly improved."
Wang noted that the project's success attracted equipment manufacturers to Hinggan League, including Goldwind Sci &Tech Co from Xinjiang, Liaoning Dajin Heavy Industry Corporation, and Qingdao Tianneng Heavy Industry Co. This influx has created over 1,000 jobs, significantly boosting the local economy.
The briefing also featured a trade promotion event. Companies from economic and technological development zones in Hohhot, Hulunbuir, and Bayannuur showcased Inner Mongolia's unique products to attendees, including bio-pharmaceuticals, new chemical products, and green agricultural and livestock products.
Since the revitalization strategy for Northeast China was proposed in 2003 and five cities in eastern Inner Mongolia were included in 2007, Inner Mongolia has seen accelerated development and deeper integration with its three neighboring northeast provinces.
Guo Zhouming, deputy director of the Inner Mongolia Department of Commerce, presented the region's economic and social development.
"We are currently focused on building eight major industrial clusters and 16 key industrial chains. In the first half of 2024, Inner Mongolia's GDP grew by 6.2 percent from the previous year, leading the nation in growth rate," he said. "We welcome entrepreneurs to explore our beautiful grasslands and share in new development opportunities."
