By the end of 2024, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region had established trade relations with 158 countries worldwide and achieved import and export growth with 120 of them, according to a press conference on the region's 2024 foreign trade performance.

In 2024, Inner Mongolia saw significant optimization in its foreign trade and product structure.

Exports of high-tech products surged, while emerging sectors like the "three new items" (referring to new energy vehicles, lithium batteries and solar cells), cross-border e-commerce, and other new business models flourished.

Measures aimed at stabilizing foreign trade, combined with incremental policies, boosted the number of enterprises engaged in import and export to a record high of over 3,500.

Looking ahead, however, challenges remain. "In 2025, Inner Mongolia's foreign trade faces a more complex external environment with increased uncertainties and instabilities, including rising geopolitical tensions, unilateralism, and protectionism," said Zhou Xiaojian, deputy director of the statistics and analysis division of Hohhot Customs.

However, Zhou emphasized that Inner Mongolia's robust economic foundation, resilience, and growth potential remain intact, providing solid support for achieving high-quality foreign trade development.
