Inner Mongolia cultural, tourism sector booms in 2024

The cultural and tourism sector in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region achieved remarkable milestones throughout 2024. The region received 273 million domestic tourists, a 1.19-fold increase compared to the previous year, generating a total revenue of 414 billion yuan ($57.13 billion) from domestic tourism.

The region's Arxan Resort was recognized as a national-level tourist resort, and the Hulunbuir Grassland-Moergele River Scenic Area and Laoniuwan Yellow River Grand Canyon Tourism Area were upgraded to 5A-level national tourist attractions. The Mazong Mountain Ski Tourism Resort also gained approval as a national-level ski destination.

Inner Mongolia led the nation in the number of industrial tourism demonstration bases and camping sites and ranked second for its number of ski tourism resorts.

Inner Mongolia hosted more than 45,000 cultural events to enhance its cultural appeal. Over 14,000 grassroots cultural activities, such as Ulan Muqir art troupe performances, were organized, along with more than 150 performances in Beijing.

Under the banner of its new "Geyou Inner Mongolia" regional tourism brand, the region also gained widespread attention with cultural initiatives such as "A Date with the Grasslands", "Ice and Snow Nadaam Fair",  and "Everyday Nadam".
