Inner Mongolia sees tourism boom during Spring Festival

According to the Inner Mongolia Department of Culture and Tourism, as of midnight on Feb 4, the region had welcomed a total of 27.33 million domestic tourist visits during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday, generating a total of 19.49 billion yuan ($2.68 billion) in tourism revenue.

Data from China's online travel agency Trip.com Group shows that some of the most popular tourist attractions in Inner Mongolia during the holiday included Dazhao Temple, Mazongshan Ski Resort, Dahei River Military Culture Park, and Meilin Valley Ski Resort.

This year's Spring Festival saw a heightened festive atmosphere, with experiencing local customs and engaging in intangible cultural heritage activities becoming major highlights.

The Inner Mongolia Department of Culture and Tourism planned 154 events, offering a cultural feast rich in northern frontier traditions.

Looking ahead to the Lantern Festival, more cultural activities will be introduced across the region. For example, Baotou will host a firework show from Feb 11 to 13, adding a romantic touch to the celebrations.

Meanwhile, Chifeng will hold a grand stilted yangko parade on the second day of the second lunar month, blending northern frontier folk traditions with a lively festive procession.
