The Baishitougou area of the Daqing Mountain National Nature Reserve in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is full of life as milu deer leisurely roam in search of food.

Milu deer are a national first-class protected species in China. In September 2021, 27 deer were released into the Baishitougou area from the Beijing Milu Deer Ecological Research Center and the Dafeng Milu Deer Nature Reserve in Jiangsu.

After more than three years, the deer have fully adapted to their new environment in Daqing Mountain. The population has grown steadily to 52, reflecting their successful integration and healthy development in the region.
