Member Li Baoquan advocates for high-quality development of rare earth industry
Li Baoquan, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has put forward proposals on the comprehensive utilization and protection of the Bayan Obo rare earth mine in Baotou, as well as on the high-quality development of green electricity and green hydrogen in Inner Mongolia.
"As a CPPCC member and a scientific researcher, I will bring the challenges and obstacles encountered in my work, along with the voices of the people, to the national stage. I am committed to offering well-founded suggestions and fulfilling my responsibilities," Li said.
As a leading expert in rare earth hydrogen storage materials, Li has long been dedicated to research in nickel-metal hydride battery anode materials, solid-state hydrogen storage, and renewable energy conversion systems.
During last year's national "two sessions", his proposals on the protection and development of rare earth resources received significant attention and thorough consideration from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other relevant departments.
The implementation of the Rare Earth Management Regulations in October 2024 marks a significant step forward in the strategic deployment of high-quality development in the rare earth industry.
This milestone has further strengthened Li's determination. "Being a committee member is not just a title – it is a profound responsibility. I strive to ensure that each of my proposals contributes to real solutions," he said.
