Inner Mongolia launches measures to boost dairy industry
The General Office of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Government issued a notice titled "On Further Supporting the High-Quality Development of the Dairy Industry" on April 2, introducing nine targeted measures to advance the region's dairy sector. The policy took effect immediately and will remain in force until Dec 31.
The notice outlines key strategies across multiple areas in response to current challenges facing the dairy industry.
Supporting industry players
The government will provide subsidies for forage and feed loans for farms and support small and medium-sized farms in developing integrated farming and processing models.
A new price index insurance for raw milk will be introduced, while subsidies for milk powder conversion will be extended from three to six months. Dairy enterprises will also be encouraged to increase milk collection.
Driving innovation
Inner Mongolia will continue to support the development of national innovation centers for dairy and forage technologies. The region aims to accelerate the launch of specialty products, such as cheese and dairy-based snacks, to meet diverse consumer demands.
Promoting consumption
Efforts will include promotional events like dairy competitions and encouraging trade unions to increase product procurement and distribution. The policy also promotes the introduction of dairy products into elderly care institutions and welfare facilities while expanding the “Student Milk Program” to foster a nationwide habit of milk consumption.
Improving fund distribution
The notice proposes streamlining procedures, introducing dynamic grading, and enabling direct access to benefits for enterprises to ensure the timely delivery of policy funds.
