Track laying completed on Inner Mongolia section of Baotou-Yinchuan HSR
The track-laying work for the Inner Mongolia section of the Baotou-Yinchuan High-Speed Railway (Baoyin HSR) was completed on June 6, marking a significant milestone in the construction of this key national rail project.
At the construction site of the Wuhai Yellow River Grand Bridge, built by China Railway 20th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, the final set of 500-meter-long steel rails was installed, marking the completion of track-laying across the 402-kilometer Inner Mongolia section.
The Baoyin HSR stretches 519 kilometers from Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region to Yinchuan in Northwest China's Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
With a designed speed of 250 km per hour, it is a crucial part of the Beijing–Lanzhou corridor in China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network. It is also the first high-speed rail line to connect two autonomous regions.
Once fully operational, the new line will cut travel time between Baotou and Yinchuan from over six hours to just two, significantly enhancing connectivity in northwestern China. The project is expected to play a vital role in improving the national high-speed rail layout and boosting the economic and social development of the region.
