China's largest new energy mining truck set for release
The EM186H, China's largest-capacity and most cost-effective new energy smart mining truck, is set to roll off the production line at Yimu New Energy Technology Co in Wuhai city by the end of June.
The launch of the Yimu-branded truck marks a significant step toward safer, more efficient, intelligent, and environmentally friendly mining operations.
Designed with an 8×6 chassis and a hybrid "diesel + electric" drive system, the EM186H delivers a maximum rated power of 935 kilowatts. It boasts a standard load capacity of 130 metric tons, with a volume capacity of up to 85 cubic meters, equivalent to two conventional diesel trucks.
The model achieves at least 20 percent lower ton-kilometer energy consumption compared to mainstream diesel trucks and maintains a 95 percent availability rate even under extreme temperatures.
Customizable power options, including pure electric, methanol range extender, and hydrogen range extender, make the EM186H a versatile choice for various operational needs.
Zhang Huakun, chairman of Yimu New Energy Technology Co, said that the EM186H uses fully domestically produced components, helping to overcome key supply chain bottlenecks. Its drive-by-wire chassis also lays the groundwork for future autonomous driving applications.
The truck is built on the independently developed Yunzi HiMADS platform, a multi-axle, rigid-body, wire-controlled system specifically designed for mining applications. The platform's innovative "multi-axle drive + front-and-rear steering" design provides superior load capacity and maneuverability, pushing domestic mining truck capacity beyond the 200-ton mark.
With China experiencing a surge in ultra-large open-pit mining projects, there is a growing demand for high-capacity transport solutions that do not compromise operational safety. The rollout of the EM186H addresses major challenges facing the industry, including load limitations, power performance, supply chain constraints, and high operational costs.
