The 5th China-Mongolia Expo will be held from Aug 25 to 29 in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, spotlighting greater regional cooperation and international engagement under "regionalization, openness, and diversification".

This year's expo aims to strengthen multilateral collaboration through platforms such as the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor and the Greater Tumen Initiative. It will also promote synergy between China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Mongolia's "Steppe Road" strategy.

With a strong focus on Northeast Asia and Belt and Road partner countries, the expo is poised to deepen global trade ties. In 2024 alone, Inner Mongolia's trade with countries participating in BRI reached 815 billion yuan ($113.67 billion), accounting for 60.4 percent of the region's total foreign trade.

The exhibition will see four major upgrades: greater internationalization, specialization, digitalization, and premium services.

More international participation: Nearly 6,000 guests and over 1,500 enterprises from more than 30 countries – including those in Central and Southeast Asia, Brazil, and Kenya – will expand the expo's global reach beyond China, Mongolia, and Russia.

Industry-focused approach: Dedicated halls for new energy, mining, and modern agriculture will showcase cross-border industrial collaboration through visualized "industry chain maps". Supporting events like the China-Mongolia Mining Cooperation Meeting and clean energy site visits will foster deeper industry connections.

Enhanced digital experience: Visitors can enjoy immersive VR experiences simulating wind power bases and AI computing centers along the China-Mongolia border. With Inner Mongolia's 120,000-P computing capacity – 90 percent of which is for AI – the region offers solid technical foundations for digital economy partnerships.

Upgraded services: Exhibitors will benefit from end-to-end support packages covering booth design to customs clearance. Business attendees will receive personalized matchmaking, while the general public can enjoy cultural performances and food tastings, balancing professionalism with public engagement.
