Inner Mongolia autonomous region's "Arxan" tourist train made its inaugural trip on Aug 7, carrying over 260 passengers.
Running between Arxan city, Bailang, and Wuchagou in Hinggan League, the 160-minute ride takes travelers through forests, flower fields, and scenic spots aboard a retro-style train, creating a fairy-tale experience that adds new vitality to local tourism.
The train features five themed carriages: folk experience, grassland culture, specialty products, Hinggan cultural creativity, and ecological study tours. Passengers can enjoy 1960s–70s-style interiors, folk song performances, and interactive role-playing, as well as grassland life experiences showcasing local customs and dairy traditions.
Regional delicacies, such as seabuckthorn juice and birch sap, offer a taste of Hinggan's flavors. Activities on board also include intangible cultural heritage workshops and geology-themed study sessions.
The tourist train will run from Aug 7 to 13, departing Arxan Station at 7 am and arriving in Wuchagou at 9:26 am, with the return trip leaving at 3:28 pm and arriving back at 4:50 pm.
