Inner Mongolia wins first sailing medal at National Games
The Inner Mongolia team, consisting of Wang Jing and Wang Lanxin, won the bronze medal in the final round of the mixed 470 sailing event at the 15th National Games, held on Oct 29 in Shanwei, Guangdong province.
It marked the region's first-ever sailing medal in the history of the National Games.
This year's sailing competition featured 10 gold medals across various events and attracted over 200 athletes from 17 teams representing provinces and autonomous regions, including Guangdong, Shandong, Zhejiang, and Inner Mongolia.
The 470 class, named after its 4.70-meter-long double-handed dinghy, demands high levels of teamwork and tactical precision. Competing in challenging 5–6 level winds and waves in Honghai Bay, the Inner Mongolia duo demonstrated exceptional adaptability and competitive spirit.
After six days and 11 rounds of fierce racing, Wang Jing and Wang Lanxin secured third place thanks to their solid technique and strong coordination, edging out their main rivals from Shandong.
