Inner Mongolia's new energy capacity exceeds 150 million kW
By the end of October, the installed new energy capacity in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region reached 150 million kilowatts, up 35 percent year-on-year and the highest in China.
The region now boasts 97.41 million kW of wind power, a year-on-year increase of 23 percent, 52.12 million kW of solar power, up 66 percent compared to the same period last year, and 570,000 kW from biomass and waste-to-energy plants.
In recent years, Inner Mongolia has advanced new energy development by strengthening power grid planning, streamlining approvals, and ensuring the simultaneous planning, construction, and commissioning of grid and generation projects. These efforts have positioned the region as a national leader in renewable energy growth.
Inner Mongolia will continue to take advantage of its resources and work to accelerate major projects, including large wind–solar bases in deserts and sandy areas, integrated sand control and clean energy initiatives, and photovoltaic assistance programs.
The region aims to add 40 million kW of new capacity this year, pushing total new energy installations beyond 170 million kW and contributing further to China’s dual-carbon goals.
