Inner Mongolia delivers cross-border medical rescue for Mongolian patient
From Jan 16 to 17, Ereenhot Saiwusu International Airport in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region assisted a Mongolian patient traveling on the Ulaanbaatar–Ereenhot–Chifeng route to receive medical treatment in China.
From entry and transfer to the completion of minimally invasive surgery for a lumbar compression fracture, the entire process took about 24 hours, marking a new stage of regularized cross-border medical services between China and Mongolia.
After receiving the patient's emergency care request, the airport immediately activated its cross-border "aviation + healthcare" response mechanism. It coordinated remote consultations and treatment planning with the Inner Mongolia branch of Xuanwu Hospital, affiliated with Capital Medical University, while working with border inspection authorities and airlines to open a green channel. Dedicated escort and transfer services were provided, and flights were ensured despite snowfall.
The patient entered China via Ereenhot on Jan 16, transferred to Chifeng the same day, and underwent preoperative examinations upon arrival. The minimally invasive procedure was completed on the morning of Jan 17.
This case highlights Ereenhot's aviation port's ability to integrate cross-border resources and deliver efficient end-to-end services. Utilizing its strategic location, port facilities, and support from a national regional medical center, the airport has established a comprehensive chain – encompassing entry clearance, medical transfer, treatment, recovery, and return – based on the Ulaanbaatar–Ereenhot–Chifeng international and domestic connecting route.
