Grassland rock painting

Grassland rock paintings immortalized in the deserts and mountains of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region contain ancient records of how the Darhan ancestors worshiped. The carvings depict totem worship and sacrificial rituals, conveying nomadic culture, art and leaving untold mysteries.

According to archeologists, the earliest rock paintings found in the region date back 10,000 years; the most recent rock painting found goes back hundreds of years.

Many such paintings have been found in Qagan Oboo and at, what is now, the cultural relic preservation center for lama temple in Durong Oboo Sumu.
