Beijing-Baotou Railway

The Beijing-Baotou Railway runs from Beijing to Baotou, passing through Zhangjiakou in Hebei province and Ulaanqab and Hohhot in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
It has a total distance of 659.9 kilometers.
The high-speed rail infrastructure consists of three sections: the Hohhot-Baotou Railway, the Zhangjiakou-Hohhot Railway and the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway.
The Hohhot-Baotou Railway started operations on Dec 3, 2012, with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The Zhangjiakou-Hohhot Railway has a design speed of 250 km/h.
The east Ulaanqab-Hohhot section of the Zhangjiakou-Hohhot Railway was officially launched in August in 2017.
In June 2019, the Huai'an-Ulaanqab section of the Zhangjiakou-Hohhot Railway completed commissioning and started trial operations.
As part of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games project, the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway started joint testing on Oct 5. It has a design speed of up to 350km/h.
The Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway and Zhangjiakou-Hohhot Railway were opened on Dec 30, 2019 and operated in accordance with the unified arrangements of China Railway.
