Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is to add two high-speed railways that will link to the cities of Hohhot and Ordos in the autonomous region, according to a June 2 report in the Baotou Evening News.

The Baotou-Ordos High-speed Railway will be 150 kilometers in length and have a top design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The Hohhot-Baotou High-speed Railway will stretch 183.7 km and have a top design speed of 350 km/h. Officials said the high-speed railway is an important part of Beijing-Lanzhou High-speed Railway.

They said that all sections of the Beijing-Lanzhou High-speed Railway have now been completed or have entered the construction stage, except the Hohhot-Baotou section.

After completion of the two high-speed railways, Baotou will become an important high-speed rail hub city for the country and for its autonomous regions.
