The new Wudang General Airport -- located in the Shiguai district of Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- is scheduled to go into operation in August, according to a report in the Baotou Evening News.

Local officials said the airport is the core of Shiguai General Aviation Industrial Park and the foundation of the entire general aviation industry in the region.

They said state-of-art comprehensive aircraft hangar facilities, top flight equipment and systems to ensure smooth and efficient takeoffs and landings, refueling, repairs and maintenance services there provide a guarantee for the continued and stable development of the new facility.

Officials said the main business of the airport's operations is basically divided into fixed operations, flight service stations, aircraft maintenance and repairs and aviation logistics.

They added that with the continuous advancement and development of general aviation and related industries, Wudangzhao airport is well positioned to grasp a raft of opportunities opening up for future growth.

This mid-to-high-end full industrial chain aviation industrial park integrates aviation R&D, manufacturing and assembly, aviation operation services, aviation tourism and sports and aviation education and training – highlighting Shiguai district's determination to forge ahead in general aviation industrial development.

Wudangzhao General Airport's runway is 1,200 meters long and 30 meters wide and the parking apron is 200 m long and 97.25 m wide. There are six positions for Class B aircraft.

There is a 2,523 square meter fully fitted terminal with supporting communications, power supply, HVAC, water supply and drainage and auxiliary equipment. The airfield area class is 2B.

Officials said the general aviation airport terminal will provide top-grade aviation management and comes equipped with waiting facilities, generous space for exhibitions, as well as boasting offices and other services.

They said it aims to be a comprehensive terminal that integrates functionality and tourism. There is a tower at the top of the terminal for tourists to visit, overlooking the entire airport.
