The new Wudang General Airport – located in Baotou city, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – is scheduled to start operations imminently after it recently got the green light from the North China Regional Administration of Civil Aviation of China, according to local media reports.
The news reports said that the official approval marked the official establishment of the first A1 general aviation airport in Baotou.
Located in Wudangzhao town in Baotou's Shiguai district, the new facility is currently the only general aviation airport wholly owned by a private enterprise in the autonomous region.
It is regarded as being the core of the Shiguai General Aviation Industrial Park and is seen as the mainspring of the general aviation industry in the region.
After the airport starts operating, plans are for it to carry out short-distance aviation transportation, flight training, low-altitude tours, test trials and other projects.
With the continuous advancement and development of general aviation and related industries, Wudangzhao airport is regarded as being well positioned to grasp a raft of opportunities that are opening up for future growth.
The Wudangzhao General Airport's runway is 1,200 meters long and 30 meters wide. There are six slots for Class B aircraft and the airfield is classed with a 2B rating.
There is a 2,750-square-meter terminal with support communications, power and water supplies and auxiliary equipment.
The general aviation airport terminal will reportedly have top-flight aviation management and comes equipped with generous waiting facilities, ample space for exhibitions, as well as offices and other services.
The new facility aims to be a comprehensive complex that integrates functionality and tourism. There is a tower at the top of the terminal for tourists to visit, overlooking the entire airport.
