With its distinctive farming culture, the Taomagou Farm in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner, Baotou, has become increasingly well-known in recent years and is attracting many tourists.
Since 2016, Shibao Iron Mine Group and the banner have been exploring the "company + cooperative + base + farmers" business model and have established Inner Mongolia Fengyu Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Co.
A total of 350 million yuan ($50.27 million) was spent building the farm, forming an industrial project integrating planting, breeding, processing, tourism and sightseeing.
Since then, the previously abandoned land has been intensively used, and green organic crops such as wheat, naked oats, buckwheat, potatoes, and corn have been planted. In brand-new sheds, flocks of cattle and sheep are being raised. Willows and fruit trees have been planted there as well, transforming the village environment.
