Baotou Golden Street in Baotou covers an area of 94 mu (6.27 hectares) and has a building area of 63,000 square meters. It consists of 22 independent buildings and a recently built T-shaped commercial street.
This street features specialty dining, boutique retail, interactive entertainment, cultural and creative experiences, and night performances. It is a key consumption area alongside places like Miaofa Temple and Caishen Temple Square.
The architecture of Baotou Golden Street is inspired by the Ming and Qing dynasties (1364-1683), featuring a cultural couplet with 216 characters at the entrance. The buildings, including two-story structures with gray brick walls and a traditional Baotou opera stage, recreate bustling trade scenes from Baotou’s past as a significant commercial hub and gateway to West China.
It also serves as a concentrated exhibition area for intangible cultural heritage, featuring displays of paper cutting, six faced pillows, traditional handmade sheep-fat soap, and more.
