Hinggan League
Hinggan League, located in the northeast part of Inner Mongolia in the middle of the Khingan Mountains, was named for its geographic location. Higgan refers to hills in Mongolian. Hingan League has an area of 60,000 square kilometers and 1.63 million permanent residents and is divided into six different county-level jurisdictions.
Hinggan League has abundant water resources, including over 200 lakes and 25 reservoirs with total storage capability of 1.9 billion cubic meters. With 5 billion cubic meters of water resources, Hinggan ranks 2nd in the autonomous region and is the water-spring of northeast China. With rich conditions for agricultural development it is also recognized as the “Golden Corn Belt” and the “best cattle farming belt”.
Hinggan’s natural tourism resources are extensive. It has ten nature reserves of all levels and kinds, consisting of more than 666,000 hectares. Arshaan especially is a composite of National Geological Park and National Forest Park, and a typical experience area of conservation culture, with many natural features: hot springs, wetlands, volcanoes, glaciers, forests and prairies.
In 2019, Hinggan League achieved a regional GDP of 52 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.1 percent. Of which, the added value of the primary industry was 17.15 billion yuan, an increase of 7 percent; the added value of the secondary industry was 13.33 billion yuan, an increase of 11 percent, and the added value of the tertiary industry was 22.53 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1 percent.
The proportion of Hinggan League’s industrial structure was adjusted to 33.0:23.7:43.3.
The contribution rate of the primary industry, the secondary industry and the tertiary industry to the economic growth of the league is 32.3 percent, 36.1 percent and 31.6 percent, respectively.
Per capita GDP of the resident population was 32,310 yuan, an increase of 6.9 percent compared with that of the previous year.
