Other scenic spots – such as Oboo Primal Forest, Ma'an Mountain, Laoye Temple Mountain and the Great Wall of Zhao State – can all be found in the district. The Great Wall of Zhao State was constructed during the Warring States period（475-221 BC）and is the oldest Great Wall in China. 

Shiguai district has a rich industrial heritage and is abundant in natural resources and minerals, such as coal, silica, kaolin, limestone and dolomite.

The district was one of the 156 key construction projects during China's first Five-year Plan (1953-1957) and it is an important energy and raw materials supply base for the Baogang Group.

The coal mining industry has always been the main industry in Shiguai. Coal taxation accounts for more than 85 percent of the district's annual fiscal revenue.

In the past two years, Shiguai district has vigorously developed its industrial development zones, built two industrial parks and attracted more than 50 companies to locate there. It has formed a new industrial group for the production of silicon-based alloys, industrial silicon and crude copper. It produces around 1 million tons of silicon-based alloys and 100,000 tons of copper annually.
